Words from our egg donors.

Find out why egg donors choose our agency to help someone have a child.

“It is true egg donation may be financially beneficial for a donor, but our donors say their greatest reward comes from knowing they made a difference in someone’s life by giving of themselves in such a personal way. The gift you offer is beyond measure - and for our part, we commit to doing everything we can to make this a positive experience for you as a donor. ”

The egg donation process.

By choosing to become an egg donor, you're offering the priceless gift of family to those who deeply desire it.

1. Application and screening

Begin by filling out a detailed application. You'll undergo medical and psychological screenings, and there may be genetic testing involved. This phase can range from a few days to several weeks.

2. Matching with intended parents

Once approved, you'll be matched with individuals or couples who dream of becoming parents. The matching process can be immediate or take a few months, depending on your unique characteristics and the needs of the intended parents.

3. Ovarian stimulation

Over a span of 10-14 days, you'll receive hormone injections to stimulate your ovaries. This ensures multiple eggs mature for retrieval. During this period, expect regular medical check-ups to monitor your body's response.

4. Egg retrieval

This minor surgical procedure typically takes 20-30 minutes. However, it's advisable to reserve a full day for both preparation and post-procedure recovery.

5. Recovery

Most donors bounce back to their regular routines within a day or two. Some might experience minor side effects from the medications or procedure, needing a slightly extended recovery.

Frequently asked questions.

How much do I get paid?

As a donor with A Perfect Match you set your own compensation. The starting range for a first-time egg donor is $10,000 and increases for each additional cycle. Donors of specific ethnicities or hard to find traits will often receive higher compensation. We also offer private advertising for clients and compensation offered is in the range of $25-50,000.

If I donate my eggs, will I still be able to have my own children?

We cannot provide medical advice, but many of our donors have had children after donation. In most cases, donating eggs does not impact a woman's future fertility.

Can I donate eggs if I have herpes?

Herpes or HPV will not necessarily disqualify you from becoming an egg donor unless you're in an active outbreak. These diseases are not transmittable through your eggs, so clinics will generally accept donors who have herpes or HPV.

Can I donate if my tubes are tied?

Yes. Tubal ligation does not affect your ability to donate.

What are the pros and cons of donating eggs?

Egg donation offers several benefits, including the altruistic reward of helping infertile couples or individuals achieve their dream of parenthood and generous financial compensation for you as the donor. The process involves thorough medical screenings, which can provide donors with valuable insights into your own health. On the downside, egg donation requires a significant time commitment, involving multiple medical appointments, hormone injections, and the retrieval procedure itself.

What is the process after I submit my application?

Once you submit your full profile, genetic questionnaire, photos, and educational verifications, our donor team will review your application. If we have any questions, we’ll contact you directly for clarification. If your profile meets industry standards, you’ll be invited to join our program. Once accepted, we’ll start presenting you to our families right away.

How long does it take to be matched with a family?

Match times vary based on the families looking for a donor when you join the program. Some donors are matched immediately, while others may wait a few months. Families often seek donors who align with their traits, such as hair color, eye color, height, ethnicity, education, and cultural or personal values. Matching goes beyond physical traits - families look for a connection that fits their unique needs and life values.

How long will I have to be on medications?

The duration depends on the protocol chosen by the IVF center. Typically, you’ll be on birth control for about a month to sync your cycle with the recipient’s, followed by daily injections to stimulate your ovaries. A long protocol lasts 3-4 weeks, while a short protocol is 12-14 days. The IVF center will decide the best approach based on your ultrasound and bloodwork, and we’ll inform you of the exact plan once you’re matched.

How many eggs do they take when I donate?

You donate between 10 and 20 eggs per egg retrieval procedure. During your standard ovulation cycle, your body begins to mature between 10 and 20 eggs, but usually, only one egg is ready for fertilization.

Is the procedure painful?

Most donors find the fear of injections worse than the injections themselves, as they’re done with a small insulin-type needle. The IVF center staff will guide you on minimizing discomfort. During the retrieval, you’ll be under anesthesia and won’t feel any pain. Afterward, you might experience some cramping and tiredness, but the IVF center will provide instructions for pain management.

What are the side effects of egg donation?

Most of our donors report minimal side effects akin to PMS symptoms, such as bloating, headaches, mood swings, and cramping. While we aim to minimize side effects, occasionally a donor might experience hyperstimulation post-retrieval, which can vary in severity and, in rare cases, require a day's hospitalization to balance hormones.

How many times can I donate eggs?

For your safety, ovum donors can donate no more than six times. This guideline was set by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Egg donation involves a screening process. Not all potential egg donors are selected. Not all selected egg donors receive the monetary amounts or compensation advertised. As with any medical procedure, there may be risks associated with human egg donation. Before an egg donor agrees to begin the egg donation process, and signs a legally binding contract, she is required to receive specific information on the known risks of egg donation. Consultation with your doctor prior to entering into an egg donor contract is advised.
